We offer both 4 channel and 5 channel amplifiers in this kit. The 4 channel amps will be used if you are not adding a subwoofer. If you want to add a sub to fill out the bottom end, we recommend going with a 5 channel amplifier.
The Kicker KEY 180 watt, 4 channel amp is an amazing amplifier in a super small chassis. It is rated at 180 watts because it only plays in 4 ohm, 4 channel stereo. You can't bridge it. Other amplifiers may say that they are putting out 300 or 400 watts, but that is the RMS rated power at 2 ohms, not 4, and most speakers are wired to a 4 ohm load. The Kicker KEY has a built in DSP and a microphone input. Once your stereo is installed and your speakers are ready to go, you plug in the mic, set it to listen mode, play the track, and the amp will listen to the sound coming from the speakers and will calculate all necessary time delays and imaging adjustments needed to set it perfectly. It really is remarkable.
The Rockford Fosgate T400x4ad puts out 100 watts per channel at 4 ohm and featues a constant power circuit, and CLEAN setup so that you can set your gains perfectly. It does have more power than the KEY amps, and the constant power circuit ensures that you always get 100 watts per channel, regardless of the impedance fluctuations that come with a moving speaker.
The JL Audio RD400/4 gives you legendary JL Audio sound quality at an affordable price. JL Audio is known for sound quality. These amplifiers are super efficient with JL Audio's NexD switching technology to deliver tons of nice, clean power and come with LED clipping indicators to take the guesswork out of setting the gains.
For the 5 channel amplifier options, we offer a Rockford Fosgate Power mini, 1000 watt 5 channel amp, as well as a JL Audio RD series 900 watt 5 channel amp. The Rockford Power mini is essentially the same as the 400 watt 4 channel version, but with 600 watts of power for the subwoofer channel. It features the same CLEAN setup and constant power circuitry. The JL Audio RD900/5 is essentially the same as the RD400/4 but it has an extra 500 watts built in to power the subwoofer.
If you opt to add a subwoofer to your kit, we offer the Audison Prima, low profile, 10" loaded enclosure. This subwoofer is amazing. It is a super small box, but it has more 18mm of excursion for incredible bass response without being overly "boomy" This subwoofer will provide you with good, clean sounding bass that will sound good and fill out the bottom end, regardless of the style of music you like.
