The 1972-1982 Thunderbird dual voice coil speaker is a single 4x10 dash speaker that has two tweeters on it to give you stereo sound. One tweeter will handle the left channel while the other will handle the right channel in order to give you the 2 in 1 effect. The 1972-1982 Thunderbird, dual voice coil dash speaker is the one we recommend for most applications. The dual voice coil speaker has more cone surface area to provide better mid-range response. On the dual dash mount speakers, including the Kenwood, the center of plate is not creating any midrange sound whereas on the dual voice coil speaker it is. This 1972-1982 Thunderbird dual voice coil speaker has 4 wire connections on the back, (+) & (-) for the left channel, and (+) & (-) for the right channel.
If you have an original, 8 Ohm or 10 Ohm radio, this speaker will not work. You must use this speaker with radios designed for 4 ohm applications.
