Under seat speakers have become a popular option for classic cars and trucks. Since many of these cars did not come with speakers in the door panels and may only have a single dash speaker, adding speakers under the seat can add the volume you want for full-range sound in your vehicle.
We based this list of the best under seat car speakers on our own experience and feedback from customers. We are an authorized online dealer for the products and brands listed in this article. We are not a media company or an affiliate site that is just trying to send you somewhere else to buy and not provide support. Instead, these are products that we recommend, that we stand behind, and that we will support, AND you are backed with the full manufacturer's warranty.
The right under seat speakers for your vehicle will depend on the type of vehicle you have, how much space you have underneath the seats, and whether or not you have an amplifier.
The Custom Autosound Undercover II speakers are the best overall under seat speakers for cars. These under seat car speakers come as a pair. Each speaker enclosure has an 8" woofer and a tweeter at each end of the box. The tweeters at each end will send those high notes forward and backward to deliver the best possible full-range sound from a speaker under your seat.
The Undercover II speakers are very versatile. You can power them directly off the radio and get decent output, and you can also put an amplifier to them. If you are putting speakers under the seat of your truck or convertible, adding an amplifier will take the Undercover IIs to the next level. These speakers are extremely popular for classic pickup trucks that don't have great options for speakers outside of the dash.
The Custom Autosound Undercover I speakers are the most affordable under seat speakers you can put in your vehicle. These speakers come with a 5.25" speaker in a ported enclosure and a tweeter at one end. These under seat speakers are exactly that, under seat speakers. There's not anything particularly special about them other than the fact that they do they job. The Undercover I speakers give you speakers, they fit under the seat, they sound decent, and it's definitely an upgrade over have no speakers or just a dash speaker. If you have a USA-230 classic car radio in your vehicle, we recommend these over the Undercover II speakers.
The JBL Fuse under seat subwoofers are very versatile. They can be used separately as two under seat subwoofers, or you can dock them together, and they transform into a single unit with two subwoofers. Each "speaker" contains an 8" subwoofer with a passive radiator. The passive radiator delivers extra bass output, similar to a ported enclosure, but without the port noise. Each subwoofer can handle 100 watts RMS and 300 watts peak, making these subwoofers an excellent match for most four-channel amplifiers. If you are looking to add some bass to your vehicle and you already have an amplifier, or you plan to power a pair of speakers off of a four-channel amp, the JBL Fuse subwoofers deliver the bass output you expect from a JBL product.
The Kicker 10-inch Hideaway subwoofer is the best under seat powered subwoofer you can put in your vehicle. It accepts high-level inputs and uses Molex connectors for power to make installation as easy as possible. The subwoofer enclosure itself is super compact, it comes with a 180 watt amplifier built-in, and the 10 inch subwoofer sounds way better than expect from such a low-profile product. The Kicker Hideaway 10" subwoofer comes with a bass knob included and measures 14" x 9.875" x 3.125".
If you want to add a subwoofer to your vehicle, but you want a stealth installation, the Kicker 10" Hideaway is the best choice. Kicker took the success of their 8" hideaway and made it even better with this 10 inch model, all while keeping the same low-profile design.
The Kicker 8" Hideaway subwoofer is the original under-the-seat powered subwoofer from Kicker. This product is proven to sound good and fit nicely under your seat. The Kicker 8" Hideaway subwoofer comes with a 150 watt amplifier built-in to the enclosure. This product is perfect if you want an under seat subwoofer, but you either can't fit the 10" Hideaway or the 10" is out of your budget. The Kicker 11HS8 comes with a bass knob to quickly and easily adjust the bass level from song to song. Like the 10" model, this subwoofer uses Molex connectors for power and accepts high and low level inputs.
The best under seat speakers for your vehicle will depend on whether or not you need highs from the tweeters. If you want full-range output from your under seat speakers, the Undercover IIs are the best option as long as you have a radio with decent output. If you have an older radio or don't want the 8" drivers, the Undercover I's offer some cost savings, but you don't get the tweeters on both ends.
If you are looking for an under-the-seat subwoofer, it will depend on the amplifier situation. The JBL Fuse subs sound excellent, but you will need an amp to power them. It doesn't need to be a big amp, but you will need an amp. If you don't have an external amplifier or don't want to buy one, the Kicker Hideaway subwoofers are the way to go. The 10" hideaway is better than the 8". If you have the budget for the 10", it's worth the extra dollars. If you don't, go with the 8". The size difference between the two Kicker products is negligible. If the 8" fits, so will the 10", so go with the 10".
