The REV 8 Speakers from Wet Sounds and the Wake Tower Speakers from Rockford Fosgate are both dual threat speakers that perform well in your off-road vehicles and water vessels. They both produce high quality sound that it is static free through waves and whoops. Here we will break down the features of each of these speakers so you can decide which one is the right choice for you.
The REV 8 speakers from Wet Sounds Audio uses REV technology which provides maximum volume levels and shows amazing full-range sound quality on and off the axis at long distances. The REV Technology is really what separates Wet Sounds audio equipment from other standard products. It’s capable of reaching maximum volume levels and is efficient at short or long range distances on and off the axis grid. The design features all stainless steel hardware and mesh grilles for solid protection. Just like Rockford’s Punch Marine Tower Speakers, the REV 8’s comes in a reinforced composite enclosure to keep the REV 8’s protected from the outside elements. This will be extremely useful in your water vessel considering all of the different elements that come with the marine environment. You will have the option of having a clamp added to your REV 8’s but you have three options: an X mount, fixed, or swivel clamp. The Rev 8’s operate at 200W of RMS power.
The 8” Wake Tower Speakers features horn tweeters which produces high audio frequencies at a consistent rate for clear, crisp sound. They operate with 150W of RMS power and features UV inhibitors that allow sound waves to through to your vehicle more clearly and efficiently. These inhibitors will help prevent your speakers from deteriorating from the UV light. These Wake Tower Speakers come loaded in a sealed enclosure that features a wakeboard tower clamp for extra security for your speakers.
Both speakers are extremely serviceable and are dynamic in their own right, but which product should you actually invest in? The REV 8’s are available at $1,249.99 from Wet Sounds Audio while the 8” Wake Tower Speakers from Rockford Fosgate are priced at $999.99. We don’t know this for certain but there could be several reasons why the REV 8’s are priced higher than the Wake Tower Speakers, one being that the REV 8’s have a higher RMS power level than the 8" Wake Towers; 200 as opposed to 150. An average person may see that as a small difference, but we car fanatics know that differences in power levels add up and will separate the stronger from the weaker speakers. Another reason is that the REV 8’s feature their special REV Technology for an extreme bass boost in performance and operates well at short or long distances, on or off the axis.
Looking back on the comparisons between the 8” Wake Tower Speakers and the REV 8 Tower Speakers, we saw a lot of similarities and a lot of differences. Both marine certified, both are a good choice for off-road vehciles as well, both are Tower Speakers and they both are protected in a composite enclosure that will come in handy, especially in a marine environment. But the REV’ 8’s are a more powerful speaker, they also use a special technology that allows the speaker to play audio at a much higher volume frequency than the Wake Towers. The REV 8’s also feature three different mounting caps for your speaker: X Mount, Swivel Clamp and Fixed Clamp, while the PM8’s only uses one Wakeboard Tower Clamp. With those added features, your guaranteed to get an optimum product with the REV 8’s from Wet Sounds Audio, but the 8” Wake Tower Speakers from Rockford Fosgate are priced at a lower rate and features a 2-year warranty with its purchase.
