The JL Audio JD500/1 amplifier delivers the clean, hard-hitting power you expect from JL Audio at an affordable price point. The JD500/1 is rated at 500 watts at 2 ohms, making it a perfect match for the two, 10 inch W0 subwoofers. The amplifier accepts both high and low level inputs, it has LED clipping indicators, and variable crossovers with a 12dB/octave slope. The JD500/1 uses JL's NexD switching technology and has many of the same features used in the more expensive, RD and XD series amplifiers.

Let's not make this more difficult than it needs to be. You are getting a pair of 10" W0 subwoofers in a slot-ported box that was designed by JL Audio. The JD500/1 amplifier delivers 500 watts RMS, the perfect amount of power at 2 ohms. If you want to upgrade the amplifier to the RD500/1, the RD500/1 will hit harder and sound better, but it's more expensive. This kit as it is, with the JD500/1 is perfect if you want an affordable setup with two, W0 subs.
