The JL Audio 10TW3-D8 offers full-size output from a low-profile, shallow mount subwoofer. This subwoofer has dual 8 ohm voice coils and can handle 400 watts RMS. JL's TW3 series is the gold standard for low-profile subwoofers. The TW3 hits hard, it's super clean, and it handles enough power to give you serious output. JL has taken their concentric cone technology and many of the features and designs from the TW5 subwoofer and applied them to the TW3. Unlike most shallow subwoofers, the TW3 does not sound shallow. It doesn't sound like a sub that is starved for air space or muffled. The 10TW3-D8 gives you similar output to that of the full-size W3v3, but it requires significantly less air space and mounting depth for maximum installation flexibility and use of space. These subwoofers have a mounting depth of 3.25" and work best in 0.575 cu ft. sealed enclosure, or 0.75 cu ft. ported enclosure.
this 10TW3-D8 has dual, 8 ohm voice coils and is ideal for dual subwoofer installations when the four voice coils are wired in parallel to a 2 ohm load. If you are bridging a 2 or 4 channel amplifier to power a TW3, this is the way you want to go to get to a 4 ohm load. But, most amps when bridged don't put out enough power for a TW3. Before bridging your amplifier, make sure it can give the subwoofer at least 300 watts at 4 ohms when bridged.
The W3s are our "go-to" JL Audio subwoofers. You get incredible, clean output that sounds like a full size subwoofer, but you don't need to sacrifice your trunk or cab space. You can mount these underneath the rear seat of your crew cab truck, behind the seat(s) of a single cab truck, or put them in trunk and still have plenty of storage space.
If you like your stereo system to sound balanced but still have enough to feel the bass when you want to, the TW3 is going to be your best bet. The 10TW3-D8 handles more power, hits harder, and simply sounds better than the TW1. You can't go wrong with a JL Audio TW3 subwoofer.
For power, we like the JL Audio RD1000/1, JD1000/1, or XD1000/1v2, just make sure you don't turn the gain up all the way and overpower the subwoofer. If you are looking to save some money, you can use the RD500/1, JD500/1, or XD600/1v2, but in our opinion, it's better to have too much power and keep the gain down versus turning the gain all the way up.
**Please note** The box specifications are different between the 4 ohm and 8 ohm versions of the 10TW3.
