This JL Audio 12W0 subwoofer package includes a single, 12" W0v3-4 subwoofer and the JL Audio JD500/1D amplifier. With this setup, the 12W0v3-4 will receive 250 watts of RMS power from the amplifier. The warranty is void if you put more than 300 watts RMS power to the 12W0v3-4, so the 250 watts that the JX500/1 is putting out falls perfectly within the optimum range.
The JL Audio JD500/1 is rated at 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms and 250 watts at 4 ohms. Since the W0 is a single, 4 ohm voice coil, the amplifier will see a 4 ohm load and supply 250 watts of RMS power.
The JL Audio W0 woofer has long been the gold standard for the entry-level, affordable woofer class. For the money, these woofers are as good as it gets. They are overbuilt, they handle the power they say they will, they hit hard, and the sound good. If you are looking
for an affordable, work horse woofer, the JL Audio W0 is perfect.
The JD series of JL Audio amplifiers offer great value, an affordable price, and the quality and reliability that you expect from a JL Audio amplifier. The JX series amplifiers are overbuilt and designed to provide superior sub-bass response.
The wiring for this subwoofer is straightforward. Positive off of the amp to the positive terminal on the woofer. Same thing for the negative side. The JX250/1 is supplying plenty of power to the woofer at a 4 ohm load. Any amplifier with over 300 watts RMS at 4 ohms, will void the warranty from JL Audio.
