This JL Audio 12W0 subwoofer package includes two, 12" W0v3-4 subwoofers and the JL Audio RD500/1 amplifier. With this setup, the amp will put out 250 watts of RMS power to each subwoofer. Since the JL Audio W0 is a single 4 ohm voice coil, they should be wired in parallel to a 2 ohm load. The amp will put out its 500 watts of rated power, 250 watts RMS to each woofer. JL recommends 75-300 watts of RMS power for the 12W0 so
the amp falls perfectly toward the upper end of that range.
The JL Audio W0 woofer has long been the gold standard for the entry-level, affordable woofer class. For the money, these woofers are as good as it gets. They are overbuilt, they handle the power they say they will, they hit hard, and the sound good. If you are looking
for an affordable, work horse woofer, the JL Audio W0 is perfect.
The RD series of amplifiers offer great output and affordability. The RD amps use many of the same technologies that are used in the XD series, but without some of the signal processing and thermal management that the XD has. Also, the RD is larger than the XD, but it also does have LED clipping indicators which allow you to perfectly set the gain.
Please see the wiring diagram below for wiring the subwoofer in parallel to a 2 ohm load.
