This JL Audio 12W3 subwoofer package includes two, 12" W3v3-4 subwoofers and the JL Audio JD1000/1D amplifier. With this setup, each 12" W3 woofer will receive 500 watts of RMS power from the amplifier as each subwoofer has a single 4 ohm voice coil and they will be wired in parallel to a 2 ohm load. The amp will supply the full 1000 watts of rated power, distributed among the two subwoofer, 500 watts for each one. JL Audio recommends between 150-500 watts of RMS power for the W3v3.
The JL Audio W3 subwoofers are in their third generation and have long been that middle ground staple with serious output, but not crazy like the W6 and W7. The JL Audio W3 woofers use many of the same technologies uses in the W6 and W7 for maximum excrusion and minimal distortion. These woofers just are reliable, they can handle enough power for serious output without straining, and they just sound good. The JL Audio W3 is the perfect woofer for the discerning customer that wants more than the W0 or W1, yet isn't going to spend $600+ per woofer for a W6 or W7.
The JD series of JL Audio amplifiers offer great value, an affordable price, and the quality and reliability that you expect from a JL Audio amplifier. The JD series amplifiers are overbuilt and designed to provide superior sub-bass response.
Along with the two JL Audio subwoofers, we also include a 4 AWG amp wiring kit and 15 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire. The wire used in both the amp kit and the speaker wire is 100% oxygen-free (OFC) copper. This is the good stuff. You don't want to spend your hard earned money on JL Audio components and then cheap out on the wire. 100% OFC copper ensures that your amplifier and subwoofer deliver maximum output.
The subwoofers should be wired in parallel to a 2 ohm load. This will ensure the maximum output from the amplifier while still operating safely and ensuring that the amplifier doesn't go into protect mode or overheat. Please see the diagram below.
