This kit includes the JL Audio HO112-W6v3, 12 inch W6v3 loaded enclosure, your choice between the XD600/1v2 or RD500/1 amplifier, a 4 AWG amp wiring kit, and 15 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire.
The HO112-W6v3 is a ported, loaded enclosure with a 12" W6v3 subwoofer that has been wired to a 2 ohm load. The subwoofer comes pre-installed and wired to a 5-way binding post terminal on the side of the enclosure. The 12" W6v3 subwoofer handles 600 watts RMS and has dual, 4 ohm voice coils. The chamber-coupled, ported enclosure is designed and optimized by the team at JL Audio for maximum performance from the W6 subwoofer.
The JL Audio 12W6v3 subwoofer is amazing. There are many people that actually prefer the W6 to the W7 because it is punchier, with more of that kickdrum-to-the-chest type output. Sure, the W7 will go lower and is more accurate that the W6, but W6 is tightier and punchier whereas the W7 is boomier and more rolling. JL's High Output enclosures are designed to not only hit hard, but to also sound really good. The chamber-coupled port design of this enclosure wraps around the inner walls of the box to couple the port output with the direct output from the subwoofer. The box has been tuned in real world, listening environments to provide the optimum volume, port length, and port diameter for the 12W6 subwoofer. If you aren't installing a W6 in a custom enclosure, do yourself a favor and get the HO112-W6v3. This enclosure sounds too good and you don't have to deal with the installation of the woofer itself. Connect it to your amplifier and you are good to go, knowing that you have the best box in the world for this subwoofer.
The JL Audio XD600/1v2 amplifier delivers 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms, which is a perfect match for the W6 which is rated to handle up to 600 watts RMS.
The JL Audio XD600/1v2 uses JL's NexD switching technology and uses JL's advanced thermal rollback technology. This helps keep the amp cooler and therefore it sounds better and has less distortion. The XD600/1v2 amplifier is very compact given it's output and performance. The XD series amplifiers are the "go-to" amps among the JL reps. The XD600/1v2 accepts both high and low level inputs and has selectable 12dB or 24 dB/octave crossovers with a defeatable low-pass filter.
If you are dead set on the JL Audio 12 W6 subwoofer but you need to save money on the amplifier, you can go with the RD500/1. It isn't going to perform like the XD600/1v2 but it also doesn't cost as much.
To power the amplifier and connect everything together we include a 4 AWG amp wiring kit with an RCA cable and 15 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire. The wire used in the amp kit and the speaker wire is 100% oxygen free copper to maximize performance and output of both your amplifier and subwoofer. You don't want to spend the money on JL Audio components and then go cheap on the wire. We include the good stuff!
The 12W6 subwoofer is pre-wired to 2 ohm load and the box has post terminals on the outside of the enclosure. Wire positive to positive and negative to negative. The amplifier will see a 2 ohm load and you are good to go.
To quickly and easily adjust the bass level for each song and recording, don't forget to add the a bass knob. No two songs are recorded the same. Some songs have a ton of bass, others have no bass. Adding a bass knob allows you to quickly and easily adjust the bass level to your personal listening preference without having to fumble with your head unit. For the XD600/1v2 you will want to select the HD-RLC. If you choose the RD500/1 amplifier you will want to select the RBC-1.
If you are going to run a single 12W6v3, the XD600/1v2 is the perfect amplifier. Yes, you can save money with the RD500/1, but if you are spending up for a 12 inch W6 subwoofer, spend the money and get the right amplifier. The XD600/1v2 is the way to go.
