The JL Audio CSL112RG-W7AE subwoofer kit will not only pound, but it is also accurate. This kit includes the 12 inch W7AE loaded enclosure, your choice of JL Audio amplifier, an amp wiring kit, and 15 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire
The CLS112RG-W7AE comes with a 12" W7 subwoofer pre-installed and the sealed enclosure is specifically designed for the 12W7AE-3 subwoofer. The team at JL Audio tuned the enclosure in real world environments to ensure that the subwoofer and the enclosure meet their exact specifications. The box is compact given the size of the subwoofer and has an angled back to maximize carbo space.
The 12 W7 subwoofer is arguably the best 12 inch car audio subwoofer in the world. It handles 750 watts RMS and it is the most accurate subwoofer JL Audio offers. it comes with a single, 3 ohm voice coil and goes super low while staying smooth and clean. It's the best subwoofer JL Audio makes.
The advantage of the loaded enclosure is that the same engineers that designed the subwoofer designed the enclosure. You don't have to worry about air space, dimensions, displacement, or any of that stuff. The engineers have optimized the enclosure for the subwoofer and because it comes pre-installed and pre-wired, you don't have to worry about leaks or internal wiring. It's all handled for you.
With this subwoofer kit, you have the option to select between three different amplifiers. All of the amps are a nice match for the 12 inch W7 subwoofer, it just depends on how much you want to spend and what type of performance you are willing to pay for. With the JL Audio monoblock amplifiers, you get what you pay for.
The RD1000/1 amplifier delivers 800 watts RMS at 3 ohms, safely within the recommended power range of the 12W7AE-3. At 800 watts, it is slightly less power than the maximum RMS rating that JL Audio recommends, but the JL Audio amplifiers outperform their RMS ratings. The RD1000/1 in a real world, listening-to-music environment is going to give you close to 1000 watts at 3 ohms, perfect for the 12W7AE. The RD amplifier has many of the same features of the XD1200/1v2 and the RD amps come with LED clipping indicators that let you know when you get a clipped input signal from the radio and a clipped output signal when setting your gains during installation.
The XD1000/1v2 amplifier delivers 800 watts RMS at 3 ohms just like the RD1000/1. The difference is the internal components and the thermal management of the XD1000/1v2. The XD1000/1v2 will deliver more actual power and that power will be cleaner than the RD1000/1. The actual output of the XD1000/1v2 at 3 ohms will exceed 1000 watts.
The HD750/1 is a beast and uses JL's RIPS power supply technology to deliver 750 watts RMS across all impedances. You can hear the difference. When the cone of the subwoofer moves, the impedance changes. With the RD and XD amplifiers, you get less output when the cone is moving and the amplifier sees 4, 8, or 12 ohms. With the HD750/1, the amplifier is putting out more than 750 watts across those impedances.
There are no bad choices here. The RD1000/1 will provide the W7 with all the power it can handle. The XD1000/1v2 is a nice upgrade and probably our favorite option, but there's nothing wrong with any of the other choices.
We include a 4 AWG amp wiring kit and 15 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire. The wire used for both is 100% oxygen free copper to ensure maximum performance and output from both the amplifier and the subwoofer. You don't want to spend the money on a W7 and a JL amp and then go cheap on the wire. We include the good stuff.
