The Kicker 44CWCS104, 10 inch, CompC subwoofer with a single 4 ohm voice coil handles 250 watts RMS and is the pefect option for an entry-level, affordable subwoofer. The CompC subwofers cost virtually the same as the Comp, but the CompC subwoofers handle more power, have the option for single or dual 4 ohm voice coils, and the woofer cone provides better sounding bass. The 10" CompC subwoofer offers several installation options. You can install it in a sealed enclosure, a ported enclosure, or in free-air applications. Although you can use these subwoofers in free-air, we recommend using an enclosure.
The single voice coil on the 44CWCS104 allows you to run a single woofer at a 4 ohm load or you can run two subwoofers to a 2 ohm load. Be sure to double check your amplifier's power ratings to ensure that the amp is 2 ohm stable if you are going to run two subwoofers.
If you only want a single 10" sub, we like the dual 4 ohm version of the 10" Kicker CompC subwoofer (44CWCS104) much better because you can wire it to a 2 ohm load and get more power out of the amplifier vs. the 4 ohm load you would get with this one. Just make sure your amplifier is 2 ohm stable.
For an amplifier, we like the Kicker CX series to power the 10" CompC subwoofers. The Kicker CX400.1 is probably our favorite option to power one subwoofer, but at 4 ohms it will probably be a little underpowered which is why we recommend the dual voice coil option. The Kicker CX800.1 is perfect for powering two of these subs.
