The Kicker 50CWCS154, 15 inch, CompC subwoofer with a single 4 ohm voice coil handles 600 watts RMS and is the pefect option for an affordable, 15-inch subwoofer. The CompC subwofers cost virtually the same as the Comp, but the CompC subwoofers handle more power, have the option for single or dual 4 ohm voice coils, and the woofer cone provides better sounding bass. The 15" CompC subwoofer offers several installation options. You can install it in a sealed enclosure, a ported enclosure, or in free-air applications. Although you can use these subwoofers in free-air, we recommend using an enclosure.
The single voice coil on the 50CWCS154 allows you to run a single woofer at a 4 ohm load or you can run two subwoofers to a 2 ohm load. Be sure to double check your amplifier's power ratings to ensure that the amp is 2 ohm stable if you are going to run two subwoofers.
If you only want a single 15" sub, we like the dual 4 ohm version of the 15" Kicker CompC subwoofer (50CWCS154) much better because you can wire it to a 2 ohm load and get more power out of the amplifier vs. the 4 ohm load you would get with this one. Just make sure your amplifier is 2 ohm stable.
For an amplifier, we like the Kicker CX series to power the 12" CompC subwoofers. The Kicker CX1200.1 is probably our favorite option to power one or two subwoofers. Because of the impedance, you need the same amplifier to power one subwoofer as you do two.
