The 12" Kicker 48CWRT122 CompRT subwoofer can handle 500W RMS, it is one of the best subwoofer values, and one of the best low profile subwoofers in the world. Many low profile subwoofers sound "shallow" but the this is one of the few exceptions. The CompRT does not disappoint with it's shallow design, power handling, and rating. It gives you the bass output you expect while allowing for more flexibility with installs due to its low profile design. The CompRT is really popular if you don't want to take up a ton of space in your trunk, or if you have a truck and you want to put one or two subwoofers under the rear seat of your truck.
The dual 2 ohm voice coil on the subwoofer is ideal if you want to run a single subwoofer at 1 or 4 ohms, 2 subwoofers at 2 ohm, 3 subwoofers at 1.33 ohms, or 4 subwoofers at 1 ohm.
If you want to run a single subwoofer, we typically recommend the 12" Kicker CompRT Dual 4 Ohm voice coil subwoofer as it allows you to wire the subwoofers to a 2 ohm load. The 2 ohm load is easier on the amplifier and will extend the life of your stereo system.
For amplifiers, if you are running 1 subwoofer you can use the Kicker CX400.1 or the KX400.1, but we would typically recommend the CX800.1 or the KX800.1 as it is better to have more power and not turn the gain up vs. having the gain maxed out. The same thing is true if you are running two subwoofers. You can use the CX800.1 or the KX800.1, but it's probably better to upgrade to the CX1200.1 or the KX1200.1 and over power the subwoofer versus under powering them. If you need to power 4 subwoofers, we recommend the Kicker KX1600.1 or the KX2400.1. The other option you have is to go with a Rockford Fosgate amplifier or a JL Audio amplifier.
