This Kicker Comp RT 12" subwoofer kit includes the two Comp RT subwoofers, your choice of amplifier, a 4 AWG amp wiring kit with an RCA cable and 15 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire.
The Kicker Comp RT 12 inch subwoofers are the best value for low-profile subwoofers. Many low profile subwoofer sound shallow but the 12" Kicker Comp RT subs can handle 500 watts RMS and deliver the output you expect from a 500 watt subwoofers, but without the mounting depth. These subwoofers require very little air space and the shallow mounting depth allows you to install them in place where standard size subwoofers simply don't fit. These places include under the rear seat of crew cab trucks, behind the seats of single cab trucks, or you can put these subwoofers in your trunk and still use your trunks space for storage, groceries, or cargo.
We offer several different amplifier options with this kit. The standard amplifier is the Kicker CX800.1. This amp is rated at 800 watts RMS and will provide plenty of power. Kicker under-rates the output of their amplifiers and you can see in the video below that this "800 watt amp" actually puts out well over 1000 watts at 1 ohm. The CX800.1 uses class D circuitry and is extremely small given the amount of output it has. The CX800.1 will have no trouble powering the 12 inch Comp RT subwoofers.
If you want some head room with your amplifier, you have the option to upgrade to the Kicker CX1200.1. This amplifier is going to put out over 600 watts to each subwoofer at 2 ohms. So, you will want to make sure you don't turn the gain all the way up. The advantage of "overpowring" your subwoofers is that it allows you to keep the gain lower which allows for more head room and cleaner signal.
Your amplifier will require a power kit with a power run directly to the battery. We include a 4 AWG amp wiring kit with an RCA cable in this subwoofer package. In addition, we also include 15 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire. The wire used for both the amp kit and the speaker wire is 100% oxygen free copper. This is the good stuff. You don't want to spend the money on Kicker components and then starve them with cheap, copper coated aluminum wire. Using 100% OFC wire ensures that you get maximum output and performance from your Kicker amp and subs.
We recommend adding a CXARC bass knob for quick and easy subwoofer level control. No two songs are recorded the exact same. Some songs have a ton of bass while others seem to have none at all. Adding a bass knob allows you to quickly and easily turn the bass up or down to your own listening preferences without having the fumble with your head unit. If you choose a song that has alot of bass and you get distortion, the bass knob helps protect your subwoofers by allowing you to quickly turn the bass down and prevent your subwoofers from blowing.
