Are you looking for maximum bass output for your money? The Rockford Fosgate P3D2-12 is our "go-to" subwoofer from Rockford Fosgate. The P3 subwoofers handle enough power to give you significant output, they sound good, and the P3s hammer. Before Rockford came out with their massive 19" T3 subwoofer, all of the Rockford Fosgate demo vans used the P3s. For reliable, hard-hitting bass at a reasonable price point, you will not find a better subwoofer.
With 600 watts RMS power handling, the P3D2-12 can handle enough power to create serious bass output. The P3 can handle the same amount of power as a JL Audio W6, but costs significantly less and still performs. There is no substitute for power if you are a bass head and looking for subwoofers that are going to hammer. The P3 delivers serious output and serious value.
The 2 ohm dual voice coils allow you to wire a single subwoofer to a 1 ohm load, or two subwoofers to a 2 ohm load. The right model will depend on your amplifier's output and whether or not it is 1 ohm stable.
The P3D2-12 will work in both sealed and ported enclosures. The recommended sealed enclosure volume is 1.02 cu ft. and the recommended volume for a ported enclosure is 1.79 cu. ft. We like this subwoofer in a ported enclosure. The 12 inch P3 is for those that want serious bass output and the additional output of a ported enclosure will deliver more of what you want, as long as you have the space.
Most Rockford Fosgate amplifiers are 1 ohm stable. You can get more for your money if you go with the 4 OHM DVC model and wire them to a 1 ohm load. We still recommend the same amplifiers, but you will get more power out of them at 1 ohm vs. 2 ohms with this 2 Ohm DVC model.
