Marine Tower Speakers

Marine tower speakers allow you to easily mount speaker up high on your boat, making it easy for someone you are towing, or just other boats on the water to hear your music. The high mounting location allows the sound to easily travel further distances than the hull mounted speakers and if you are looking for maximum volume and distance, go with horn loaded tower speakers. The horn loaded tower speakers are extremely loud and are ideal for ensuring that the people tubing, the wakeboarder, or the skier can hear the music and sound crystal clear behind the boat. Depending on your electronics, tower speakers can also act as far-reaching PA speakers if you have a microphone and an EQ to alert other boaters that a skier or wakeboarder is in the water. Marine tower speakers come in sizes ranging from 6.5" up to 11".

6.5" Marine Wake Tower Speakers

6.5" marine wake tower speakers are going to be the most cost effective way to add tower speakers to your boat. All four manufacturers, JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, and Wet Sounds make 6.5" models and they handle the same amount of power as the 6.5" coaxial speakers in the hull, making it easy from an amplifier perspective. If you have 4 speakers in the hull and you want to add some tower speakers, you can run them off either the front or rear channel, drop the amplifier load down to 2 ohms, and you should be fine from a power standpoint. The 6.5" tower speakers usually will have better bass response than the coaxial speakers due to the fact that they are in a sealed enclosure. That being said, we usually recommend going with 8" or larger for tower speakers. The 8" larger speakers play louder and travel further, making them a better bang for your buck as tower speakers in general are not cheap. Tower speakers aren't necessarily cheap.

7.7" & 8" Marine Wake Tower Speakers

The 7.7" and 8" marine wake tower speakers are the most popular size for those looking to add speakers up top on their boat. JL Audio makes a 7.7" marine speakers and Wet Sounds, Rockford Fosgate, and Kicker make 8" diameter speakers, but we group them all together. The 8" diameter speakers give you improved bass response over the smaller 6.5" speakers, and the 8" category offers both standard and horn tweeter versions from Rockford Fosgate and Wet Sounds. The larger, 8" diameter gives much better mid-bass resposne and if you want to, you can probably get away without running a subwoofer due to the larger cone size. The 8" marine tower speakers usually handle more power than the 6.5" speakers so adding them may require an extra amplifier, but that will usually depend on whether or not you have horn loaded tweeters. If you have the horns, you want to make sure you are giving them enough power to get the volume and distance you are paying for.

8.8" and Larger Marine Wake Tower Speakers

The 8.8" and larger marine tower speakers are for those that want maximum volume and distance, and are willing to pay up in order to be loud! JL Audio offers 8.8" M6 ETX towers, Kicker offers both 9" and 11" horn loaded speakers, and Wet Sounds has their REV 10 and REV 410. The 8.8" JL Audio speakers are not horn loaded and they will not give you the sheer volume and distance of horn loaded speakers, but they will provide you with a better overall sound quality compared to the horn tweeter versions. The Kicker horn loaded tower speakers and the Wet Sounds REV 10 and REV410 are going to be LOUD. These tower speakers are designed to ensure that the person you are towing hears the music crystal clear at distances up to 100 yards. Kicker offers theirs with a dual swivel clamp that allows for 359-degrees of rotation while Wet Sounds REV 10's are available in fixed clamp, swivel clamp, or with OE tower adapters in order to bolt directly to your factory speaker mounts.

Marine Tower Speakers with Lights

Let's face it, LED lights built into your boat speakers are cool. We offer marine tower speakers with lights built in from Kicker, JL Audio, and Wet Sounds. The entire line of Kicker marine tower speakers come with LED lights built-in. JL Audio offers them both with and without LED lights, and with Wet Sounds, it depends on the model. The Wet Sounds RECON, REV 8, REV 10, and REV 410 tower speakers all come LED lights built-in. The Icon tower speakers do not. In order to power the LED lights, they require 6 conductor speaker wire, 2 larger conductors for power, and 4 conductors for the LED lights. We also recommend adding an LED controller so that you can adjust the lights to the color you want.

Horn Loaded Marine Tower Speakers

Horn loaded marine tower speakers are designed for volume and distance. The horn tweeters are the same style of tweeters that are used in large, public address style speakers that you see in arena's, at concerts, or anywhere else where volume and distance are important. That technology has been scaled down and is used in tower speakers. There are three main uses for horn loaded tower speakers. First, they will allow the person skiing, wakeboarding, or tubing to hear the music easily and clearly at distances up to 100 yards. The other use for tower speakers is to use them to serve as a microphone speaker to alert other boaters that there is someone in the water. The last use is to just be as loud as possible on the water. If you want to be the loudest boat on the water, horn loaded marine towers are the way to go. We offer horn loaded tower speakers from Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, and Wet Sounds in 8", 9", 10", and 11" diamters, depending on the brand.

Marine Tower Speaker Accessories

We offer a full line of marine tower speaker accessories including clamps, LED rings, covers, and RGB controllers. Many tower speakers do not come with clamps due to the various mounting preferences out there. Some people need them to swivel, some want to mount to their factory location, other's don't need clamps at all. Also, you will want to protect your investment with tower speaker covers. All of the manufacturers offer covers that will protect your tower speakers from the sun and all the other elements nature offers. While they are built to marine grade specifications, they will last longer and look better if you keep them covered when not in use.
