The Kicker CompRT is Kicker's best performing, thin-profile subwoofer and one of our favorites. The shallow mounting depth of the Kicker CompRT is perfect for installations in tight spaces or installs that need to work within small volume enclosures. Many thin, or low-profile, woofers on the market sound like shallow mount subwoofers. The CompRT is one of the few exceptions. These subwoofers offer full-size bass in a low-profile, compact package.
Kicker's L7T Subwoofers are one of the most sought out subwoofers on the market. Now they are available with Classic Car Stereos. L7T subwoofers are compact enough to fit under your seat or in the trunk of your car with no issues. They still provide elite power levels with their smaller infrastructure. You all no more cone area means more bass and kick coming from those speakers. The L7T sub technology gives you about 20% more cone space than a conventional sub, meaning more kick without the large size of a traditional subwoofer. L7T subs are crafted with nickel-plated terminals for extensive protection and feature standard dual-voice-coil design to get the best quality sound out of your speakers.
The Kicker CompRT comes in a few more sizes than the Kicker L7T lineup, with sizes in the 6.75", 8", 10", and 12" diameters. The Kicker L7T subwoofers come in 8", 10", and 12" diameters. If you're looking for more versatility on sizing, the Kicker CompRT lineup is the way to go.
Kicker's CompRT lineup comes in dual 1-ohm or dual 2-ohm voice coil configuration, while the L7T lineup sticks to dual-coil 2-ohm or dual-coil 4-ohm construction. Be sure to check out which setup the subwoofer you're selecting has when planning out your installation if this is one of the most important factors in your selection.
Depending on the size, the Kicker CompRT lineup has RMS power handling in the 150-watt to 500-watt performance based on the size of the subwoofer selected. The L7T lineup handles 350 watts at the 8" diameter, 500 watts at the 10" diameter, and 600 watts at the 12" model, so if you're looking for a bit more RMS power handling at comparable sizing, be sure to go with the L7T lineup when selecting your subs.
If you're looking for better space-saving options with your installation, the mounting depth of the CompRT lineup and the L7T is very similar at comparable sizing. The CompRT series features a slightly shallower depth. Be sure to check out the shallower depths of the CompRT lineup over the L7T lineup at your selected size sub when planning your installation.
When lining up the recommended sealed and ported enclosure for both the CompRT line and the L7T line, Kicker has listed the recommended sizes the same at comparable sizing. This means if you've narrowed down to selecting between these two subwoofer lines, this category will weigh the decision in the same way for both lines of subs.
The recommended amplifier for your subwoofers will vary greatly depending on the size and quantity of subwoofers you select for your installation. The following lists are comparisons between amplifiers for subwoofers in the same dimensions between the different models. The list begins with a factory recommendation for amps that provide enough power handling for the subwoofer(s), and then move on to our professional recommendations that may vary slightly from the factory recommendations. These Classic Car Stereo recommendations may be an amp with a higher price point that will service the subs better, or an amp that provides RMS power handling over the recommended amount which will allow you to not have to maximize the output on your amp to provide full power to your subs.

The L7T lineup is an upgraded lineup over the CompRT line and will come with a small increase in price to reflect that between comparably sized models. Although the L7T lineup is a different square-shaped design compared to the CompRT line, with all the upgrades listed above, we think the increase in price is well worth the purchase price as an upgrade to your installation. If the money is available, it will be money well spent.
The Kicker CompRT and L7T series subwoofers are two of Kicker's best thin-profile subwoofers on the market. The subwoofers do feature two very different shapes, with Kicker's L7 series all featuring its unique square-shaped design. If that's the shape you're in the market for, it's hard to do better than the L7T. However, if you're looking for the more traditional round-shaped design, you'll want to be looking at the Kicker CompRT lineup here that features a great range of available sizing and great RMS power handling.
